Downloading fonts??

ok so i have downloaded and already unzipped the font that i have downloaded. im just having trouble puting into the fonts. i went to control panel..clicked on fonts...and then tried to copy and paste on to the font list but then it says...the file is currently being used and cannot be replaced wait until windows is finished using the files, and then try again. so wats up with that?? i need step by step help!
