With what initial velocity must an object be thrown upward (from ground level) to reach the top of the washing

The equation escapes me at the moment (though I used to know it). However the speed (neglecting air resistance) will be the same as if you dropped the object off the top of the monument. Therefore, the velocity of the thrown object will simply be in the opposite direction as the dropped one, with the same magnitude.
