Am I coughing up something other that phlegm?

I've been sick for about a week but the cough was a secondary symptom. I've had it for a few days and it is a deep cough. I've been to the doctor and they gave me an inhaler, which I may be allergic to since I broke out into hives after I used it a few times. I am now coughing up phelgm but nothing I have every experienced before...it's kind of freaking me out. The phelgm in white, long, thin and spaghetti like. It almost looks like it could be part of my lung, sometimes has branches and looks like a 'tube'! Anyone know anything about this to ease my mind? Already been to the doctor twice but haven't asked about this....
