For city driving should the overdrive be on or off?

Most owners manuals will state to turn it off, this is one reason for this switch. Under light throttle the o/d will try to come on in the 35--40 mph range. Light throttle is the key word here, if you are doing say 40 and see the light ahead turning red when you take you foot off the throttle it will also shift into o/d as you slow down, only for a little bit, and then as you slow it shifts out again, but this constant trying to go into o/d and then out of o/d is why the lock out was put on these vehicles. It is will also help if you push the o/d off when going downhill if you want.
