If it's something you don't like about yourself, you'll dream of some conflict with a person that has that attribute. Kitten/cat/kitten is confusion about childhood vs. adulthood. You are subconsciously trying to get in touch with your authentic self. Unread notes, comic, etc. is the unknown about your future which you are trying to anticipate but are frustrated because you cannot.
