Christians: Why are many Christians unlike the Christ they profess to follow?

I have been a Christian for about 30 years and I am not just finally getting the hang of it. It has taken me a long time, I tend to be stubborn and have had to go through alot to get to this place in my walk with Him. It just takes time to get the world out of us and allow the Holy Spirit control.
