I'm a british citizen working abroad with my wife who has Indefinite Leave To Remain. does it affect her visa?

She loses ILR if she remains resident outside the UK for two years or more and will have to reapply for it if she wants to live in the UK again. It will also affect her citizenship application as there are a minimum number of days she can remain outside the UK and still be eligible to apply.
